
Monica Ramirez Alcantara is a dedicated public servant with a deep-rooted commitment to the people of Bexar County. Her family's legacy dates back to 1731, when her great-grandfather, Juan Leal Goraz, led the original 16 families to settle in what is now San Antonio. As the first alcalde (mayor) of La Villa de San Fernando, his leadership helped shape the foundation of Texas’ first municipal government. This rich history of service continues through Monica, who carries forward the spirit of leadership and dedication to her community.

For the past seven years, Monica has served as Chair of the Bexar County Democratic Party, transforming the organization into a modern and effective political force. Under her leadership, voter turnout has increased, party operations have been modernized, and more than seventeen successful elections have been managed with efficiency and transparency. Her work has strengthened the party’s reputation, visibility, and accessibility—ensuring that it truly serves the people of Bexar County.
Beyond politics, Monica brings 32 years of legal experience as a litigation paralegal, managing complex, high-stakes cases and leading teams of legal professionals. Monica has handled over 100 cases at time from inception to trial, while helping the firm in its administrative needs. Her expertise in personal injury and mass tort litigation has helped secure justice for countless clients, and her leadership skills have ensured that those she works with have the support and resources to succeed.
A champion for working families and a unifying leader, Monica is committed to fighting for a stronger, more just community. She is not afraid to take on challenges and always puts the interests of Bexar County residents first.

Monica and her husband, Ruben, have built a strong and loving family over their 21 years together, raising four daughters and cherishing their three grandchildren. Her commitment to family, justice, and public service makes her the leader Bexar County needs.
